The primary research of the laboratory is the study of new methods for imaging the internal structure and physiology of the human body. No less important is research into the development of computerized techniques for data analysis and information extraction from medical images. At present the laboratory is focusing its research efforts on two modalities, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The laboratory is equipped for experimental studies with ultrasonic imaging. In particular, we have developed two ultrasonic tomography systems, enabling us to investigate new computerized tomographic (CT) algorithms using the hazardless ultrasonic irradiation. Work on MRI is conducted in collaboration with the GE Medical Systems Israel (previously Elscint ) MRI division. MRI data is also obtained from Tel Hashomer (SHEBA) Medical Center
