New hope for spinal cord injury rehabilitation

22/07/2026

Technology developed at the Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering Laboratory, headed by Prof. Shulamit Levenberg, has become a new treatment by the startup NurExone Biologic (OTCQB:NRXBF) (TSXV: NRX) (FSE: J90).

The treatment is simple and non-invasive. Administered intranasally, it regenerates nerve cells and rehabilitates injuries previously considered irreversible.

How it works: The therapy uses the body’s natural particles to deliver a special molecule to the damaged area. This molecule temporarily releases the PTEN protein, which acts as a brake on nerve growth, allowing cells to reconnect.

Laboratory results showed paralyzed rats walking again after receiving the treatment. NurExone is now preparing for its first human clinical trials next year.

We are proud to see technology developed at our faculty on its way to changing lives globally!
